Hi folks, just a quick update to tell you to run over to the Tattered Angels blog for a chance to win a set of the Spring Limited Edition glimmer mists.
Monthly Archives: January 2011
how about a layout…
I really thought I’d moved on from my need to have every tool known to man…this came along, I resisted for a bit and then after playing with it at Archiver’s I had to have it, meet
my new tool obsession…
Now I can make my own prima like flowers like the one in the layout
For this one I punched some basic cream cardstock, misted with banana chalkboard mist and then painted the highlights with yellow daisy glimmer mist. So fun. I’ve made several of these with the scraps lying around on my desk.
So what’s new with you?
Tonight is the night! You know when Tattered Angels hooks up with Heidi, Pink Paislee and Prima it’s going to be good. I don’t want you to miss out.
Be sure to tune into the webshow at 8pm Mountain time to see the big reveal from Heidi, Wendy and other special guests.
Long time readers of this blog will recognize my little red shelf, it’s a favorite vintage find and the anchor of my scrap room. It has held many things over the past two years…ribbons, buttons, vintage spools…but never quite right until now. Clearly this shelf was made to hold my mist collection.
It makes me so happy to stare up to see all of the bottles together, talk about motivation not to leave them strewn around my work space. And yes, Ronda, they are in rainbow order.
But now I have a dilemma…look what’s coming from Tattered Angels now. Brand new bright colored chalkboard mists.
Aren’t they gorgeous…when these and the other fabulous colors come I think I may be on the hunt for another shelf.
As if those new colors weren’t enough…Tattered Angels, Prima, Pink Paislee and House of Three have up something special up their sleeves! Be sure to watch the Live webshow on Tuesday, January 18th at 8p MST for a pre-CHA sneak peek and exciting announcements! http://www.ustream.tv/channel/heidi-swapp-live.
This month our assigned surface was Canvas…In my world there’s nothing that makes me feel more like an artist than staring at a blank canvas. The possibilities are endless, especially when you combine with all of the fabulous products from Tattered Angels.
First up, my version of a subway sign. I love the graphic design of these prints and decided to create my own.
To create this look, I first used Blue Skies, Turquoise Blue and Meadow Green mists to put a variegated foundation of color. I so love these colors together. They remind me of the beach. I cut some random letters with the Slice, stuck them down and dry brushed over them with white paint. It’s such a fun experience to pull up the letters after the paint was dry and see the bright colors underneath.
Next up a smaller canvas…this one was all about experimenting and playing with layers. Originally I made this with the intention it would go in my craft room, but I took it into the bedroom to find some light and I think it might just stay there. Good think canvas is on sale at Michael’s this week and I can buy more for other rooms.
To start I glued some dictionary scraps and then sprayed with Jack Frost. While the mist was still wet I swirled on some Big Apple glimmer glam. Then a few layers of textured stamps and a diecut of more dictionary paper spritzed with Silver Sugar mist.
Finally, my favorite project of the month. I have had these Maya Road banners in my stash since last spring, just waiting for the inspiration to hit. Finally it did! And a bonus I finally found a project to use this lovely ribbon I bought in NYC a year ago.
To started I used some paper doilies as a stencil and sprayed with Tattered Leather which I watered down just a bit for a lighter color. I then sprayed more doilies with Olive Vine. On top some chipboard letters that were painted with Pink Lipstick Glitter Glam and Penny Loafer Glitter Glaze.
My favorite part of the project was ‘discovering’ that a new Studio Calico stamp that arrived just the day before was the perfect circumference for the doily outlines.
What have you done with Canvas lately? Need more inspiration? Be sure to check out the Tattered Angels blog for all sorts of wonderful canvas creations.
the first week of 2011 is done and we’re moving on.
How are those resolutions doing? Going down the One Little Word route instead? Either way I hope you are successful in your endeavors. I have a couple of small things and one really BIG thing this year to conquer.
One of the small ones — put my layouts safely AWAY — not just in a stack on a shelf. Here’s what the stack looked like on New Year’s Day
I’m happy to report that all of these gems are in page protectors and on their way to an album, I’m sure you’re not shocked to learn that these didn’t fit in an album. Can I just say how much I hate to buy albums? There’s so many choices and well let’s face it for the money you can buy LOTS of other lovely things.
The BIG thing is being a whole and healthy human. In the past 4 months I have lost 45 pounds — and have many more to go. Have no fear my crafty friends this will not ever be a diet blog. I just felt the need to share and reach out to those that might be struggling like I was. It just starts with small steps and before you now it you’re at the front of the Zumba class and your workout clothes are the first thing to go in the laundry each week. I just read a great article that now has a corresponding website — great points on why the battle is so tough. Check it out if you need a little motivation: Being healthy is a revolutionary act.
Sorry I don’t have anything more crafty to share, but come back on Friday for the reveal of my monthly Tattered Angels projects. I am so in love with one of them…
In the meantime, here’s a little more fun from New Year’s Eve, created by lead man Sean Kelly — if you look carefully you’ll see me smiling like a teenager.
I for one am not sad to see 2010 be one its way and for the new year to begin. So much so I made a page about it earlier in the week.
For the first time in a long time, I am excited about things to come. I’m looking forward being healthier, actually enjoying exercise (Zumba anyone?), finding out what’s in store for me in so many ways. Hopefully that will result in more blogging of creative endeavors –or not.
And as much as I’m excited about new things, I am thankful(no matter how painful they may be) to the past experiences that brought me to this place…and mindful that the more things change, the more they stay the same…or something like that. Take my love of The Samples. First discovered these guys as a lonely freshman in the CU dorms oh so many years ago…and although most of the band has changed the music is still solid and puts me in a special place. So it was only fitting that I start this new year with a trip down memory lane, spending the night at a Samples concert. Back then I would have given anything to get as close to the stage as we were last night…I guess it’s true ‘good things do come to those that wait’.
For my fellow Samples lovers a little snippet from last night’s show…and my fav Samples song of all time.
