A few weeks ago I was working on some training for work and came across this video – which had nothing to do with what I was looking for really – but I found it inspiring.
Since then fractal circles have found their way into lots of doodle work. Here’s my favorite piece from my art journal.
The daily creative workouts are working – go figure- just like exercise for the body produces great results- I feel making an effort to do something creative everyday is paying off in my aspect of my life as well. So much, I have an extra layout to share this week.
I don’t know about you, but for me the cold winter days have me longing for spring time – since that’s not going to happen outside – I decided to cheer myself up with some summery papers. These Simple Stories papers were the perfect solution.
A little fun with my January Cocoa Daisy kit and a photo from my trip to South Beach last October. I love living in Colorado, but there are some days I really miss being near the ocean, there’s nothing quite like the soothing rhythm of the waves rolling in and out.
*enjoying: a gas fireplace that turns on with a flick of the switch
•thinking: time does heal most wounds, I hate the Giants less than the Patriots. It’s half-time now so we shall see

Favorite Pin of the Week: Which is what I’ve been doing and it’s working – so much that I didn’t have many pins to choose from this week.
- Hope you have a great week!
except when it’s not…
Sympathy cards are just about my least favorite thing to create, I always think I should make them ahead of time so I can be ready, but it just doesn’t happen. Sadly a couple of people in my life lost people they love last week, so it was time…
I made a couple versions of this card
For info on how to make this butterfly, check out this post – yep this little guys has been hanging around my desk for almost two years. I’m glad he’s on his way to a new home.
After a couple of sad cards, I felt myself needing a little cheer. I had some happy scraps from Simple Stories laying around my desk so I decided to make a happy little card.
in my own special way…it seems like resist papers and chevron patterns are everywhere in the paper crafting world these days, although not necessarily together.
I decided to tackle making these on my own in this layout
Funny, this whole layout what inspired by the tea tag, one after it fell off and I thought that would make a nice embelly on a layout. Once the idea was born it just flourished in my head – such a bummer when the ideas are flowing and your stuck at work. Luckily once the plan was on it was a matter of executing.
First I created the resist paper by stamping this charming Cocoa Daisy Coffee Cup with versamark and embossing with clear embossing powder. Next a dash of Peach Delight Glimmer Mist (the best orange there is in my opinion, don’t know why it’s called peach).
Then on to creating the chevron pattern with these great strips from the Simple Stories paper. All those angles took me back to high school geometry and the evil teacher who told me to take consumer math instead – after this process he may have been right, but I was determined to figure it out.
enjoying: the new Tim Holtz Cargo box, yep the same one I was wishing for last week-I had to make the voices in my head stop. I swear it was for a good purpose. This is the before box of my multi-media supplies
Before...all my mists, paints, inks together in a jumble mess
After...Everything in it's place
I even went a little crazy decorating the outside
•thinking: I really should adjust the position of some of those stickers
